Baviaanskloof Estate at a glance

Perfectly positioned on the Constantiaberg mountain located on the Chapman's Peak side of the valley which clings onto the last of the sun's fading rays and surrounded by a beautiful array of indigenous flora, lies Baviaanskloof Road. Home to the elegant Baviaans River which glides down the hillside, forming a boundary between Scott Estate & Baviaanskloof travelling down past the Manor Hotel, across the Main Road and alongside the Mainstream Mall until it eventually flows out into the Hout Bay river estuary. Baviaanskloof is also home to two gated communities, Tierboskloof Estate and Baviaanskloof Private Estate. The famed Hout Bay Manor proudly sits at the bottom of Baviaanskloof Road, built from stone in the traditional Cape-Colonial style by Jacob Trautmannn in 1871. Shielded by a grove of aged oak trees, the manor was built on land that had previously been a part of the Kronendal Estate. In 2006 the manor underwent an 18-month refurbishment plan to restore it to its former glory, complete with a spa for pampering and a well-shaded terrace to unwind for sundowners on a warm summer's evening. Baviaanskloof is also the location of the Baviaanskloof hike, known for its magnificent seasonal waterfall, which is surrounded by lush vegetation and shade, is the ideal spot for a picnic (if the weather permits). For those who are more adventurous, you can continue past the waterfall and on to a small pine tree forest while those wishing for an even greater challenge can continue up to Klein Leeukoppie and take in an "eagle eye" view of the greater Hout Bay valley. Baviaanskloof is also surrounded by many B&B villas and guest houses, perfect for spending the evening or weekend at. These guest houses include Villa La Lumia, The Anchorage and the Cape Birdsong. Popular Restaurants in the Baviaanskoof area include Greek Street, The Indian Oven and the Blue Lotus (sushi restaurant). For those looking to settle in a prestigious location that exudes sophistication and natural grandeur, look no further than Baviaanskoof Road in Hout Bay.
